Our Net Zero Journey

Over recent years, we have made significant changes to how we power and operate our premises. After improving insulation, we installed an air source heat pump, solar panels and battery storage.

These investments have delivered impressive results. Improved insulation and air source heating have roughly halved our energy consumption, while solar energy now supplies around half of our remaining usage. During peak generation, surplus electricity is exported back to the grid.

Alongside these improvements, we have introduced LED lighting with motion sensors, reduced colour printing, expanded recycling across the business, and encourage employees to walk, cycle or car share whenever possible.

In 2024, We launched an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme for employees that have been with us for more than a year. Several team members have already made the switch, reducing both their carbon footprint and running costs.

We are proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to further improvements through employee training, responsible supplier management and continually reducing our environmental impact.

Supporting Charities

Giving back has always been an important part of how we operate at Finesse, locally and internationally.

The Dalitso Project

In 2007, Finesse founders Fraser and Sheila helped establish The Dalitso Project, a charity based in Malawi working to alleviate poverty, support education and improve healthcare opportunities.

Over the years, the project has made a lasting difference to communities in Thyolo and Kambilonjo. Its work spans orphan care centres, infant care programmes, daily meal provision, education funding, healthcare improvement, home and community facility construction, local employment, and the delivery of clean water through boreholes. What began as a founding vision has grown into a charity that continues to create brighter futures and lasting opportunities for those who need it most.

Many of our employees sponsor children through the charity, and Finesse matches every employee donation.

Closer to Home

We are also proud to have supported local charities in Arbroath and also elsewhere in Scotland.

These have included the Arbroath RNLI and Lochaber Mountain Rescue team, organisations that depend on public and business support to carry out the life-saving work they do; Reach Across – a Scottish Mental Health Charity based in Arbroath.

We also helped towards the building of the Arbroath Skatepark and in November the team collect a large amount of food donations for the local Foodbank.
